Joseph Allen Hellard, 41, of Elsmere, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no vehicle registration plates, according to Kenton County online booking records.

The arrest came two days after Hellard collected the six-figure prize, WLWT-TV reported.

Hellard was pulled over on Wednesday after police in Erlanger noticed his vehicle registration had expired, WXIX-TV reported.

According to an arrest affidavit, officers searched Hellard’s car and found a smoking pipe with a white crystal substance in it, the television station reported.

The substance was determined to be meth and Hellard was arrested, according to WXIX.

On Feb. 26, Hellard said he would use the “life-changing” $250,000 to buy a new home and vehicle, WLWT reported.

Instead, he used $2,500 of it to post bail on Wednesday afternoon, Kenton County online court records show.
