SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – A California man is accused of attempting to drown his 2-year-old daughter in a pond on Tuesday, authorities said.

Timothy Ryan Shipman, 42, of San Bernardino, was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted murder and child abuse, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department online booking records.

Deputies said Shipman lied to enter the secured Pali Mountain Camp in Running Springs, according to KTLA-TV. According to an arrest report, Shipman locked his 5-year-old son in his vehicle while attempting to drown his daughter in a nearby pond, KTTV reported.

Camp staff members were able to safely retrieve the children from Shipman, KABC-TV reported. The children were taken to an area hospital by authorities and are in stable condition, according to the television station.

Shipman was also taken to an area hospital and was later released to authorities, KTTV reported.

A search warrant was executed at Shipman’s home and “evidence was retrieved,” authorities said.

Shipman’s bail has been set at $1,025,000, online records show. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
