CLARKSTON, Mich. – Music icon Carlos Santana is recovering after he collapsed Tuesday night during a concert in Michigan, his representatives said.

According to the Detroit Free Press and WDIV-TV, the incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. during the Grammy Award-winning guitarist’s performance at the outdoor Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston. Videos from the scene showed concerned fans looking on as medical crews rushed onstage to assist the 74-year-old. He was then taken to an area hospital, the Free Press reported.

In a midnight statement posted on the artist’s official Facebook page, Santana’s team said he suffered “heat exhaustion and dehydration” during the show.
“Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well,” read the post.

Minutes later, Santana thanked fans for their prayers in a separate post, adding that he is “taking it easy.”
“Forgot to eat and drink water, so I [became] dehydrated and passed out,” the post read. “Blessings and miracles to you all.”

Santana’s next scheduled concert, slated for Wednesday night in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, will be postponed, according to his manager, Michael Vrionis.
