SWEETWATER, Tenn. – A Tennessee man is accused of assault after a woman left a note asking for help in a bathroom at a gas station.

Robert Temple Vann, 51, of Delano, was charged with domestic assault in the Sept. 28 incident, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

Sweetwater Police Officer Chris Corona said he found the note in a bathroom of a Circle K gas station, the Advocate & Democrat of Madisonville reported.

According to Corona, the note stated, “Tell Police Room 218 need(s) help … He broke my cellphone. Sept. 28, 2021,” the newspaper reported.

While the name of the motel was not listed, Corona said he went to the nearest place, the Economy Inn in Sweetwater, and knocked on the door of Room 218, according to the Advocate & Democrat.

According to Corona, Vann answered the door, the newspaper reporter. The officer found the woman inside the room and observed that she had “multiple signs of having been assaulted.”

Corona said both of the woman’s eyes were bruised, she had a large bump on her forehead and bruising on the side of her right temple, the Advocate & Democrat reported

Vann was arrested and posted bail on Tuesday, online records show.
