POTOMAC, Md. – A Labrador retriever mix escaped from its owners on Saturday, running off and falling into an abandoned well.
Montgomery County Fire Rescue said the owners heard whimpering coming from the Norwood School and found the dog at the bottom of a 20-foot well, WUSA reported.
They called rescuers who worked to remove the 100-pound, 11-year-old dog, whose name was not released, WTOP reported.
Firefighters pumped air into the void and expanded the opening to fit a ladder then retrieved the dog.
The dog appeared happy and was wagging its tail after the rescue.
