Haley Parke’s husband, Jb, had been admitted to the hospital on Nov. 28 with complications from cancer. Jb’s original 6-month prognosis became a matter of days, and so the couple decided to induce Haley on Dec. 2, even though her due date with their son was three weeks away, WFSB reported.

In the post, Parke said that after they began the induction, Jb’s health declined further and so they did a cesarean section to allow Jb to meet their son. After the baby was born, he was rushed to his father’s room. “The miracle of all this? When our baby was placed on Jb’s chest, Jb’s vitals all instantly improved,” Parke said in the post.

Jb spent his last moments with his new baby on his chest and holding his wife’s hand, WTIC reported.

Since Parke’s Facebook post, a GoFundMe was launched to support the family, raising $44,800 by Thursday afternoon.
