Update 11:29 p.m. EDT May 9: The children’s mother, identified earlier in the day as 38-year-old Angela Dawn Flores, was booked Monday on suspicion of three counts of murder, and her bail was set at $6 million, KTTV reported.

Flores’ 16-year-old son, who has not been identified publicly because of his age, was booked on suspicion of one count of murder and is being held without bail at Sylmar Juvenile Hall, police confirmed to the TV station.

Update 12:03 p.m. EDT May 9: A teen has been arrested in connection with the deaths of the three children. Police have also identified the mother of the children who were killed.

Police said Angela Dawn Flores, 38, is the prime suspect in the deaths of her children. She is the mother of seven — the two sons and a daughter who were killed, a teen who is now charged in the deaths and three additional children who live out of state with their father, KCOP reported.

Flores’ son who was arrested was not named because of his age.

Police said Flores’ daughter who was killed was 12 years old and her brothers were both 8, KTLA reported.

Neighbors told the news station that they heard a woman screaming as she held a candle and a bible.

“I figured she was just in the wrong place … mentally not OK,” Pricila Canales told KTLA.

Police are still trying to find out the timeline of when the children were killed.

Flores is being held on $6 million bail, KTLA reported.

The woman, whose name has not been released, has not yet been formally charged, according to KTTV. Authorities took her to a nearby hospital, where doctors evaluated her mental health before she was returned to police custody, the outlet reported.

Original report: According to police, officers responded to the home at around 7:40 a.m. local time for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon, KTLA-TV reported.

Responding officers found three children, ranging in age from 8 to 12, unresponsive at the residence, KABC-TV reported.

All three children were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department crews, the TV station reported.

According to police, the children’s mother was detained at the scene and questioned by officers, KTLA reported.

No other suspects are being sought, and the cause and manner of death remained unknown Sunday evening, KABC reported.
