The young birds fell from a ponderosa pine on Thursday in Colorado Springs, The Denver Post reported. A passerby noticed the distressed birds and called officials from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Corey Adler, a wildlife manager, said in a video clip.

Members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department Station 9 were called to help, and the responders gently scooped up the birds and used a ladder truck to return the pair into their nest, the Post reported.

The mother owl flew north a short distance during the rescue, Adler said in the video, but she will likely return to the nest and rejoin the owlets.

“So far, so good,” Adler said. “We’ll see mom come back here in a little bit and start taking care of them again.”

The owlets are about 15 days old and should be able to fly in about 30 days, Adler said.
