Seattle pier partially collapses, injuring 2 construction workers
SEATTLE – Two construction workers were hurt Sunday afternoon when a Seattle pier partially collapsed, authorities said.
According to KIRO-TV, firefighters responded about 4 p.m. to Alaskan Way after the two victims, ages 30 and 42, fell into the water as crews worked to remove Pier 58. Crew members removed the victims from the water, authorities said.
Emergency responders rushed the injured workers to a nearby hospital, where they were in satisfactory condition, KIRO reported.
The collapse occurred at the pier’s northeast corner near the Seattle Aquarium, which was evacuated, according to the news outlet.
