Paxton, who attends Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran School in Oshkosh, received the Stroke Hero Award from Aurora BayCare in Green Bay, according to a Facebook post by the Oshkosh Fire Department.

The department noted that Paxton, whose last name was not revealed, noticed that Greg Martin, his teacher and the school’s technology director, was having a difficult time communicating with his class, WGBA-TV reported.

According to the fire department, Paxton notified another adult about his teacher’s distress, and first responders determined that Martin, who also coaches soccer and robotics at the school, was having a stroke.

The boy’s quick thinking saved his teacher’s life, fire officials said.

“Way to go, Paxton,” the fire department wrote on Facebook. “We’re so proud of you.”
