Bryan Kirby, 44, was sentenced Friday, The Denver Post reported. He was convicted of vehicular homicide, reckless manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident on July 15, according to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office.

On Oct. 13, 2018, Kirby was on Facebook livestreaming video of his speedometer as it reached speeds up to 167 mph, KCNC reported. Prosecutors said Kirby was also replying to comments during the livestream, and at one point he commented that “We cruise at 140.”

While traveling at 120 mph, Kirby hit the back of a sedan, KUSA reported.

Warning: Video of the livestream below contains graphic language and footage of the crash.

Robert Hamilton, 67, died at the scene, according to the Post. Kirby fled the scene but was eventually arrested, the newspaper reported.

“Cases like this make me angry,” District Attorney Brian Mason of the 17th Judicial District told reporters. “It was totally preventable.”

“Mr. Kirby’s unconscionable and reckless actions took a life and destroyed a family. My hope is this conviction will serve as a warning for others who even contemplate this kind of behavior,” Mason added. “Put your phone down when you drive! And do not ever livestream yourself driving a car. Mr. Kirby’s behavior extinguished a life and now he’s going to prison. This simply did not have to happen.”
