Brad Pitt is suing ex-wife Angelina Jolie for selling her share of Chateau Miraval, a France vineyard they bought in 2008 before they were married at that same property there in 2014, BBC News reported.

They divorced in 2016.

TMZ reported that Jolie paid 40% of the $28.4 million price of the vineyard.

Chateau Miraval includes both the vineyard and a large home. and had, according to Pitt’s lawyers, “become Pitt’s passion” and is a “multimillion-dollar international success story.” It is known for its rose wine.

Pitt said he and Jolie agreed to not sell their portion without permission from the other.

But Pitt’s lawsuit claims she sold her stake to a spirits manufacturer owned by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler, BBC News reported.

Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Stoli Group known for its vodka, was listed as the buyer, TMZ reported.

“She sold her interest with the knowledge and intention that Shefler and his affiliates would seek to control the business to which Pitt had devoted himself and to undermine Pitt’s investment in Miraval,” the actor alleges in the lawsuit.

Jolie told Pitt of the sale in January 2021, saying that she had come to a “painful decision, with a heavy heart.”

Pitt asked for a trial by jury. Requests for comment from Jolie have not been answered, the BBC and TMZ reported.
