CTV News reported that Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair will take their place in music history on March 13 during the Juno Awards.
This isn’t the first time Nickelback has been to the Juno Awards. They have won the award 12 times. They will also perform during next year’s show, along with Tate McRae.
The upcoming awards will bring back several events leading up to the ceremony, including the Juno Cup celebrity hockey game, the Juno Songwriters’ Circle and Juno Fan Fare, CTV News reported.
Nickelback was formed in the 1990s and hails from Hanna, Alberta. It started as a cover band called Village Idiot. In 1996, Chad Kroeger and Peake joined Mike Kroeger, CBC reported.
Nickelback signed with EMI in 1999 but the band’s third album was a hit thanks to the single “How You Remind Me.” The band has sold more than 50 million albums globally and has had more than 4.7 billion streams.
They’ve been so successful that by the end of the 2000s, Billboard named Nickelback the top band of the decade, coming in seventh overall on the list of top music stars, beaten only by Eminem, Usher, Nelly, Beyonce, Alicia Keys and 50 Cent — all solo artists, the Toronto Star reported in 2009.
Their 10th album — “Get Rollin’” — is set to be released Friday.
