Couple exchanges vows, gets married at Illinois Aldi store
BATAVIA, Ill. – A couple decided to say “I Do,” in Aldi store in Batavia, Illinois.
According to People Magazine, couple Michael Hurd and Jessica Bojanowski heard about Aldi’s contest, “Happily Ever Aldi,” where a couple heading down the aisle could have a chance to win a wedding at one of their store locations. Hurd and Bojanowski entered the contest and soon after they found out that they had won.
According to the Today Show, back in August, Aldi promoted their search for a couple to get married at one of their locations. Five hundred couples applied with short essays about they deserved the opportunity.
The contest included a free-of-charge wedding, complete with hair, makeup for the ceremony, a professional photographer, and more, according to the Today Show.
Plus, the couple got a wedding gift from Aldi – a year’s worth of free groceries, said the Today Show.
After the ceremony, Aldi provided a reception with their signature items including Aldi-theme wedding favors, a storefront photo shoot and an Aldi-themed wedding cake, according to the Today Show. Plus guests and family got to snack on some Aldi food and drinks.
Aldi has a deeper meaning for the couple. They told People Magazine that with their opposite schedules, on weekends the two would on Sundays to grocery shop at Aldi, and it was something that they looked forward to every week.
According to the Today Show, Hurd and Bojawoski got married at the Aldi Insights Center specifically and it was transformed into a wedding venue for the day on Nov. 9. They became the first couple to ever get married at one of their locations.
