‘Far too comfortable’: Louisiana man breaks into home, relaxes naked in recliner
BOGALUSA, La. – Authorities said a Louisiana man made himself at home when he broke into a residence last week — perhaps a little too comfortable.
Deputies said the man was found inside the home, relaxing naked on a recliner, WGNO-TV reported.
According to a news release from the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jessie Patterson, 50, of Bogalusa, was arrested on Oct. 24 and charged with simple burglary, prohibited acts and resisting an officer.
On Oct. 24, deputies received a call about a suspicious person walking around several Bogalusa residences with a stick, WVUE-TV reported. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Patterson inside a home, sitting naked on the recliner.
Patterson allegedly told deputies he was renting the home, but those claims were disputed by the homeowner, according to the television station.
Patterson was taken into custody and clothed. He was transported to the Washington Parish Jail, the sheriff’s office said. When he arrived at the facility, Patterson refused to leave the deputy’s vehicle.
Another deputy and several corrections officers were able to remove Patterson from the vehicle and he was booked into the facility, the sheriff’s office said.
“Mr. Patterson was far too comfortable in another person’s residence,” Sheriff Randy Seal said in a statement. “I’m glad our officer was able to clothe him before transporting him to jail. After already making one unwise decision to force his way into a residence, Patterson made another unwise decision by refusing to exit the deputy’s vehicle and walk into the jail like a man. Our deputies persuaded him otherwise. Welcome to the Washington Parish Jail, Mr. Patterson.”
Patterson’s bail was set at $25,000, according to Washington Parish online booking records.
