Jurors rejected an insanity defense from Ricky Anderson II, 30, and convicted him on two counts of first-degree murder, according to WHBQ.

Authorities detained Anderson a short while after a friend found the body of 26-year-old Karmeshi Pipes at a home in the 1900 block of Sparks Street on Jan. 30, 2018, WHBQ reported. Officers found Pipes, who was nine months pregnant and set to give birth Feb. 7, dead on the floor and partially covered by a bedspread, according to the news station. Investigators said it appeared she had been dead for several days.

Family members told authorities they had not seen Pipes since her baby shower on Jan. 21, 2018, according to WHBQ.

Records from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office show Anderson has been jailed without bond since Jan. 31, 2018.
