‘Triple dog dare’: Texas attorney wears Michael Myers costume in court
GALVESTON, Texas – A Texas attorney appeared in court Friday dressed up for Halloween — as Michael Myers, the serial killer from the movie “Halloween.” Why? Because a judge apparently “triple dog dared” him.
Mark A. Metzger III, of Galveston, is no stranger to wearing the Myers costume. He was fined in September after Galveston detained him for walking on the beach dressed up as the cinema slasher as Hurricane Nicholas approached the coast, The Galveston County Herald reported. According to Galveston Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Stacy Papillion, authorities received a 911 call about a man walking the beach carrying what appeared to be a bloody knife, the newspaper reported.
On Friday, Metzger entered the Galveston County Courthouse wearing a bulky black coverall and a pale white mask, KPRC reported. The attorney represented four clients on Friday on various charges that included driving while intoxicated, assault with bodily injury and evading a police officer, the television station reported.
“Triple dog dared to wear a costume to court? Challenge accepted, Judge,” Metzger wrote in a Facebook post Friday morning.

“Usually the Friday before Halloween, Christmas, July 4, etc., or any other holiday that merits dressing up, myself and a few other festive colleagues make light of the situation,” Metzger told KPRC.
Facing charges in court is serious business, however. How did Metzger’s clients react?
“My clients all loved it,” Metzger told KPRC. “Today, hearings weren’t serious in nature. Most cases were being dismissed or otherwise reset to a later date so the ‘temperature’ of the courtrooms and my clients were lighthearted so a little fun doesn’t hurt anything. Obviously had today been a serious trial matter or a motions setting I’d have been dressed professionally.”
