JEFFERSON COUNTY, Kan. – A couple was arrested after fleeing police and then crashing into a cow and a fence in Kansas, officials said.
Authorities attempted to pull over a Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Skye Joe Covers Up, 18, of Mayetta, last Saturday when she took off, Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse said.
Covers Up and Santana Kay Noriega, 21, of Holton, led police on a chase until the car hit spike strips and crashed into a farm fence and hit a cow. Both ran away on foot before being taken into custody.
The cow suffered two broken legs and is supposed to be euthanized.
No one else was injured.
Covers Up was arrested and charged with suspicion of fleeing police, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and several other charges.
Noriega was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
