Girl, 10, accidentally shot, killed in North Carolina; relative may have mishandled gun, deputies say
HALIFAX COUNTY, N.C. – A 10-year-old girl has died after she was accidentally shot over the weekend in North Carolina, authorities said.
According to WNCN and WTVD, the incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at a Hollister home. The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office determined that a relative may have mishandled a weapon, the news outlets reported.
Authorities have not released the victim’s name or said whether anyone has been charged in connection with the shooting, according to WTVD.
The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
