SHREVEPORT, La. – Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris, known for the song “A Bay Bay,” was arrested Friday on a murder charge, police said.

Police responded to a call about a shooting at a gas station around 1 a.m. in Shreveport. Officers found one person suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.

The rapper, whose real name is Christopher Dooley Jr., told police he shot a man who he thought was trying to steal his vehicle. Surveillance video showed otherwise. The vehicle Dooley was driving had also been reported stolen from Texas.

Dooley was arrested and charged with murder. He was being held without bond at the city jail.

Dooley is best known for his 2007 album “51/50 Ratchet” which had the hit single “A Bay Bay.” The YouTube video for that song has been viewed more than 30 million times.
