Suspect, wounded by accomplice, sought after fatal Texas home invasion
KATY, Texas – A home invasion suspect, who was fatally shot by one of his victims, may have wounded his masked accomplice who remains at large, according to deputies in Katy, Texas.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Windmoor Drive break-in just before 11:30 p.m., KTRK reported.
The family who lives in the home told deputies that two men in body armor kicked in their door, claiming to be Houston police officers, KHOU-TV reported.
According to KTRK, a mother and her two adult sons were inside the residence when the situation unfolded.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said one of the intruders opened fire on one of the adult sons and shot his partner in the process. The wounded man dropped his handgun as he tried to run from the home. The adult son then grabbed the dropped gun and fired on the assailants as they fled, fatally striking one, KHOU reported.
According to the sheriff’s office, the wounded assailant escaped by jumping into a dark sedan being used as a getaway car and driven by a third partner.
Investigators confirmed to KTRK that the attack appeared to be targeted, but the motive remained unclear.
Authorities are still searching for the two suspects who fled the scene.
