First lady Jill Biden’s flight diverted due to ‘aircraft issue’
An aircraft issue prompted first lady Jill Biden to postpone a planned trip to Michigan on Monday.
The first lady’s press secretary, Vanessa Valdivia, did not elaborate on the issue in a statement posted to social media. She said Biden’s plane was diverted back to Denver around 12:15 p.m. local time.
“Everyone is safe,” Valdivia said. “We’re back on the ground in Denver.”
The first lady visited with Colorado Gov. Jared Polis earlier Monday “to highlight how state officials are prioritizing investments in community colleges and workforce training programs,” according to White House officials. She was scheduled to visit Delta College’s main campus in Bay County, Michigan, on Monday afternoon.
