Houston Man Goes Viral Following Red Lion Pub Break-In

A video of a Houston man covered in grease has recently gone viral on TikTok following a failed break-in attempt at the Red Lion Pub – but not for the reason you’d think. A man covered nearly head to toe in grease is not something one sees too often – even on the internet.
Despite the unusual sight, the video has gone viral primarily for what the police, who apprehended Jose Galvan, 43, back in September, used to clean the man before taking him away; Dawn dish soap.
Now Dawn dish soap is well-known for being the cure to the affliction of ducks upended by oil spills, so it would make sense that the dish washing product would be a fitting degreaser for Mr. Galvan before his ride in the back of an HPD vehicle. While the bottle that probably sits on your counter near the sink or under it is a suitable size for cleaning ducklings, HPD brought out a five-gallon bottle of Dawn to get the job done.
So instead of the comments and appeal being drawn to Galvan’s grease-covered body, many TikTok users were focused on the dish soap and where they could purchase Dawn in such a large quantity. Here’s some of the best the comment section has to offer:

Galvan was a former employee of Red Lion Pub, as he was fired by management. He attempted to break in through the roof, before finding himself lodged in a grease vent and dangling from the ceiling, needing to be rescued.
Once HPD called in the fire department to come free him and then clean him, Galvan was taken into custody and booked at the Harris County Jail on a burglary charge.
Galvan is suspected by the establishment to be responsible for five prior break-ins, dating back to July 2, according to ABC 13. More burglary charges against Galvan are possible, according to police.
