Bigger Than Ever: Here’s What’s New at Rodeo Houston 2025

HOUSTON — Rodeo Houston announced Monday that Shell Federal Credit Union is the new official title sponsor of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s Opening Day. The three-year partnership starts in 2025.

“Opening Day is one of the most exciting days of the year for us at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and we share the same sentiment announcing this partnership with Shell Federal Credit Union,” president and CEO of the HLSR Chris Boleman said in a press release. “Opening Day sets the tone for our 20-day event, and we are confident this collaboration will set a new standard for Rodeo seasons to come.”

Opening Day of the rodeo kicks off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, as the gates will open.

What’s happening opening day?

  • At 10 a.m., the first 10,000 guests will receive a 2025 HLSR belt buckle.
  • Former Houston Oilers star quarterback Dan Pastorini will serve as grand marshal of the Opening Day Parade at 12 p.m.
  • Reputation – A Tribute to Taylor Swift will be performing on the Junction Stage, presented by Woodside Energy from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., where you’ll be able to get Rodeo-inspired friendship bracelets.
  • After 2:30 p.m., there will be a meet-and-greet with former HLSR barrel man Leon Coffee at NRG Center. Face painting in the style of Coffee’s, along with balloon hats, will be available.
  • Choo Choo Soul, which performs children’s music, will perform on the Junction Stage, presented by Woodside Energy from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • At 6 p.m. gates will open to NRG Stadium for the first rodeo of the year. All weekday rodeos start at 6:45 p.m.
  • There will be a Glow Party in the Campion Wine Garden, presented by Frost. Bring your glow-in-the-dark attire or a glowing giveaway item, enjoy some award-winning wine and a DJ.
