HOUSTON — Winter isn’t done with Southeast Texas yet, as an arctic cold front is expected to bring freezing temperatures to the Houston area next week. Temperatures could dip into the 20s, according to ABC 13.
The weather will warm up a bit heading into Valentine’s Day, with highs in the upper 70s on Saturday in the Houston area, before dipping back into the 40s at night on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday could see the potential for another warm day, followed by a chance of thunderstorms, before the arctic front hits town as early as that night.

Wednesday will likely see temperatures dip below freezing, about 24 hours after the arctic front sweeps through.
Temperatures are expected to reach their lowest point early Thursday morning, with the potential to reach the low 20s. This could create a “hard freeze” situation, making conditions dangerous for animals, plants, pipes and people if not properly taken care of. If able, take time this weekend to prepare your home for the potential sub-freezing weather.

The rest of next week will remain chilly, before possibly climbing back into the low 60s by next Sunday.
With the chance of freezing temperatures, be mindful of changing road conditions. Plan ahead if travel is necessary, and drive carefully.
With the potential for dangerous road conditions, it’s possible the area could see more school closures, similar to the front in late January that saw most schools close across the area for at least a couple days.
