Former Houston Astros stars Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker have been named the MLB’s “Player of the Week” in their respective leagues on their new teams. Bregman plays third base for the Boston Red Sox in the American League, while Tucker plays right field for the Chicago Cubs in the National League.

Both former Astros were members of the 2022 World Series Championship team, while Bregman also won with Houston in 2017. The pair both left the Astros during the 2024 offseason; Tucker via a Dec. 13 trade to the Cubs, and reigning AL Golden Glove Award winner Bregman as a free agent, signing a 3-year $120 million deal with the Red Sox.

During the week of April 1 through April 6, Bregman posted a .407 average (11-27), seven runs, two home runs, 10 RBIs and a 1.263 OPS. Tucker posted a .391 average (9-23), 11 runs, three home runs, eight RBIs and a 1.461 OPS. The pair combined for seven home runs so far this season, keeping pace with the Astros themselves. Bregman led the Sox to five straight wins during the stretch, going undefeated. For Tucker, he helped lead the Cubs to four straight wins, going 4-1.

On the flip side, the Astros have struggled through the early part of the season. The team currently sits at 4-6 as of Tuesday morning, third in the AL West behind the 8-3 Texas Rangers and 6-3 Los Angeles Angels. The Astros dropped the first of a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Monday, falling 4-3. The series continues at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday and 3:10 p.m. Wednesday.
