Luke Combs, Bailey Zimmerman Tease Collab on New Song, ‘Backup Plan’

Bailey Zimmerman has had himself quite the 2025 so far: From major shows like his Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo debut, to major musical collaborations with Texan rapper BigXthaPlug and now a major country one. On Monday evening Zimmerman and Luke Combs dropped a teaser for their new song, Backup Plan.

Combs and Zimmerman made a collaborative post on their Instagram and TikTok accounts, teasing what appears to be the last 40 seconds of their new song, Backup Plan, by lip-synching to the new song. The style in which the duo announced the song is right in Zimmerman’s wheelhouse, as the young country star rose to fame on TikTok’s platform with his own music. According to the post, the country-rock song is “coming soon.”
The duo first teased their collaboration on Monday morning, as Zimmerman posted a selfie with Combs on his Instagram account:
“Well y’all … BZ x [Luke Combs] …” Zimmerman said in the post’s caption.
Combs replied to the post in a comment, saying “Think they’re ready?”
Zimmerman initially teased the collaboration on Sunday in an Easter celebration post win his Instagram, although he made no mention about Combs or the song:
“I’m announcing something TOMORROW that I’ve been keeping a secret for so [freaking] long,” Zimmerman said in the post’s caption. “STAY TUNED … Y’ALL ARE GONNA LOVE THIS.”
This isn’t the first time the pair have worked together, as Zimmerman took the stage with Combs at the latter’s Concert For Carolina in October, a benefit for those affected by Hurricane Helene, where they performed Combs’ Must’ve Never met You together. Zimmerman would also perform his hit single Rock in a Hard Place.
We can’t wait to hear the full track once it’s released! We’ll stay tuned, Bailey.
