The Academy of Country Music‘s nominees for the “New Male Artist of the Year” award featured a talented group of musicians, including Gavin Adcock, Shaboozey, Tucker Wetmore and Bailey Zimmerman, but topping them all was none other than Zach Top. The I Never Lie singer was announced as the winner via a congratulatory video from Brooks & Dunn.

Top was presented the award backstage Thursday night, prior to taking the stage at a sold-out show in Wilmington, NC.

The past year for Top has been more than the young country star could’ve hoped for, between Sounds Like the Radio and I Never Lie becoming hits on country radio, to the release of his debut country album in April, Cold Beer & Country Music, social media stardom, major sold-out shows and electric performances at both 93Q Star Party and the 2025 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

At the CMA Awards in November, Top spoke with Lo Sessions on how he viewed his recent run of success:

“It’s all I ever wanted to do,” Top said. “The pipe dream comes true, I guess, every now and then. I’m very excited. I feel very fortunate; I’ve come a long way, you know, right time, right spot-sort of thing. Hopefully we can keep it going for another 40 years, but if this is it, then it’s more than I’d ever thought it’d be.”

With his early ACM Awards win Top takes home his first award win from a major ceremony. Cold Beer & Country Music is also in the running for “Album of the Year” at the ACMs. Top was nominated for the “New Artist of the Year” award at 2024’s CMA Awards, but Megan Moroney took home the award.

Congratulations to you, Zach, on your win, and we look forward to your new record and what else you have in store for us.
