The man many are claiming as “bringing back classic country music” has finally earned his first No. 1 country song. Zach Top topped the charts from the week of May 4 to May 10 with I Never Lie, according to Mediabase.

After getting into the music industry a few years ago, switching from bluegrass to country, Top broke out in 2024 with his single Sounds Like the Radio. Fans instantly gravitated to his classic country sound and humble yet goo-fun personality. Clips of the country star’s live performances began doing rounds on social media, and soon his shows became constant sellouts. His 2024 appearance at the Fort Bend County Fair had people climbing trees just so they could see Top perform.

After going viral on TikTok, Top released I Never Lie on Nov. 25 as the second single in promotion of his debut country album, Cold Beer & Country Music. The song is seemingly straight off a 1980s/1990s country album, and its lyrics are witty and catchy as hell, with no complaints when stuck in one’s head.

Top’s 2025 has been big too, as the country artist is coming off a win at the 60th ACM Awards as the academy’s “New Male Artist of the Year.” He also received a nomination for “Album of the Year” for his debut record. He capped off the honors by a live performance during the awards show on May 8, in Frisco, TX.

Top’s sophomore album is expected to be released sometime this summer.
