Morgan Wallen Schools Tom Brady in Golf

Morgan Wallen just handed Tom Brady a tough loss on the golf course — and opened up about his unlikely journey from church singer to country star during their match at Tennessee’s Troubadour Golf Club.
Wallen reflected on how his music career almost started much earlier than you’d think.
“I started singing in church when I was three years old. My dad was a pastor, so my mom recognized early on that I had a love for it,” he said. “I mean, hell, I was offered a Southern Gospel record contract when I was seven years old.” But his mom said, “‘Nah, I want him to be a kid.’ Thankfully.”
He added, “I really started focusing on baseball mostly, and by the time I turned 12, I was playing 100-something games a year. I thought that was what I was going to do — but I’m better at music than I am at baseball!”
Now, Wallen is gearing up for his 2025 North American tour, excited to perform songs from his new album I’m the Problem.
“I wasn’t ready until my album was done, obviously, but now that it is, it’s something else to look forward to. I’m looking forward to getting it out and seeing what people like. Hopefully they like all of it,” he said, explaining the album features “three different styles or subdivisions of country.”
During the match, Wallen joked about his guitar skills: “I’m a mediocre guitar player, but my guys who play lead guitar for me… one of my main guitar players started with me when he was 18 and was already an expert.”
Despite Brady’s legendary winning streaks in sports, Wallen took the win on the course.
Brady admitted, “Disappointed. Came out here, high hopes. Got my ass kicked. Can’t win them all.”
Wallen’s next big event is a one-night-only album release show at London’s Roundhouse on May 28 — and with the UK’s amazing golf courses, we bet he’ll squeeze in some swings while he’s there.
