It is another Tuesday and I want tacos!

I go around this town trying every local taco stand, truck and restaurant to find all the hidden gems, great eats and vibes when it comes to tacos and this Tuesday we are in the Montrose area of Houston at “The Pit Room.”

Now about a couple of weeks ago I went to his sister restaurant Candente, which is of course next door to the Pit Room. Immediately when you walk in it feels like you are in a small town BBQ spot. When meeting up with the owner Michael he opened up about the food industry, correlating how the passion and love I have for radio is what he has in the food world. “You have to love this industry and the people, the hours are long and the work can get a bit tough, but seeing our people smile, come to work happy and being able to serve our customers is all worth it,”

The Pit Room was the first BBQ restaurants to open inside the loop and it bring the hometown vibe in every bite. I mean they even have a Blue Bell Ice Cream Freezer right at the register! unlike some BBQ restaurants The Pit Room is open 7 days a week and takes no days off to serve its amazing food to the community. Michael takes pride in making sure each and everyone has a plate and they don’t run out of food for their customers.

But lets dig into these tacos! Three different tacos with each having its own unique flavor. Chopped brisket, cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa roja. Pulled pork, pickled red onions, salsa verde, cilantro, cotija. Smoked chicken verde, griddled cheese, charred garlic. These we absolutely FIRE. they well earned a spot in the 5/5 ranking in my taco Tuesdays ranks. Plus a BBQ spot that sells Mexican Coke is a huge plus!
