The Lo Down: NFL Commissioner Backs Taylor Swift Halftime Show
Taylor Swift + Super Bowl Halftime Show? NFL Commissioner Weighs In
The NFL’s biggest stage may have its eye on the world’s biggest pop star.
Following Taylor Swift’s engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, speculation is swirling about whether she could headline the Super Bowl halftime show. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell fueled the conversation this week, calling Swift a “special talent” and saying she would be “welcome anytime” to perform.
While the final decision ultimately rests with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, who oversee halftime talent, Goodell made it clear he’s personally a fan. In the past, Swift’s packed tour schedule made a halftime performance difficult, but with her tour recently wrapping up, the timing could be more realistic.
The halftime show is famously an unpaid gig, but the global exposure it provides might make it worth it for Swift — especially now that she has a built-in NFL connection through Kelce.
Meanwhile, over on TikTok, fans are connecting the dots on some juicy Easter eggs from her recent New Heights podcast appearance. Swift talked about her “sourdough obsession” and that she thinks about it “60% of the time”, clues many believe reference Sourdough Sam, mascot of Super Bowl host team the 49ers, and the game’s 60th edition.
There’s also the number “47,” appearing in her shout-out to Jason Kelce’s 47-second introduction and her 47th Eras Tour show, which just so happened to take place at Levi’s Stadium, this year’s Super Bowl venue. Cue the conspiracy theories.
So will the Super Bowl’s biggest spotlight finally meet the world’s biggest star? Fans will just have to wait and see.
