HOUSTON — You might want to dig a warm jacket out of the closet for next week, as a cold front is expected to sweep into the greater Houston area late Tuesday into Wednesday, and it’s set to bring a noticeable chill to the fall air.

Temperatures on Tuesday are still flirting with the 80s, but by Wednesday you’re looking at highs around 73 °F and overnight lows slipping into the low 50s. Thursday looks even cooler and brighter, with a high near 71 °F and a crisp low dipping into the mid-50s. Humidity will drop, skies clear, and you’ll actually feel like you’re in fall for a few hours.

For Houstonians, that means it’s time to swap out flip-flops for boots, light tees for long sleeves and maybe plan that patio coffee or outdoor dinner rather than sweating through your day.

However, it’s a short-lived dip; by the weekend highs bounce back into the upper 70s and lows creep back up toward the 60s. There’s also the potential for showers next Saturday.

The real takeaway: Midweek will bring the most noticeable change. Consider this your friendly heads-up — the weekend’s coming back warm, but for a couple of days you’ve got sweater weather.
