Country music star Jelly Roll had one of the most heartfelt reactions we’ve seen in a long time when he was officially invited to join the Grand Ole Opry—and it happened in a truly unexpected way.

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Jelly Roll was surprised with a video message from fellow Opry member Craig Morgan, who extended the invitation for Jelly Roll to become part of the historic country music institution. Morgan, who has been an Opry member since 2008, congratulated Jelly Roll for the positive impact his music has had and called the moment a “true honor.”

Jelly Roll, visibly overwhelmed, buried his face in his hands and asked Rogan for a hug as the reality of the moment hit him. He called the invitation “as big as it gets” in country music and reflected on how much the Opry has meant to him.

What made the moment especially meaningful was the full-circle nature of the invite: Jelly Roll once sat in the audience at the Opry watching Morgan perform his song “Almost Home”—a performance that helped inspire Jelly Roll’s own musical journey.

The invitation marks a major milestone for Jelly Roll, who first performed at the Opry in 2021 and has returned several times since. Now, as he enters the Opry’s legendary family of members, he joins a roster of country music greats and cements his place in the genre’s rich history.

Congrats to Jelly Roll on this unforgettable honor! 🎶✨
