Michigan State Police safely returned a loose miniature donkey to her farm in Oakland County after a late-night escape that required a little help from law enforcement.

And yes — this is where it crosses into the country music world.

The donkey’s name is Dolly Parton.

Troopers were called out after the miniature donkey wandered away from her pasture in Holly Township, prompting concerns about a loose animal near the roadway.

Michigan State Police even addressed the situation directly, clarifying in a post:

“Last night, troopers were dispatched to a home in Holly Township, where Dolly Parton… no, not that one… Dolly the miniature donkey, had taken advantage of an open gate to her pasture.”

According to police, troopers located Donkey Dolly strolling along a roadway and safely escorted her back home without incident.

Her owner later explained that Dolly hadn’t escaped alone. Another donkey named Henry also made a break for it. Henry, however, wandered back on his own about an hour later.

Dolly, on the other hand, needed a police escort.

No injuries were reported, and all parties — human and donkey — were safely accounted for.

Just another quiet night for Michigan State Police… minus the country-music-named livestock.
