Former Chick-fil-A Dingus Accused in $80K Mac & Cheese Scheme
GRAPEVINE, TX – A former Chick-fil-A dingus in Texas is facing multiple charges after police say he used mac and cheese orders to steal more than $80,000.
According to Grapevine police, 23-year-old Keyshun Jones is accused of ringing up approximately 800 orders of mac and cheese and refunding the money to his personal credit cards.
Investigators say the alleged scheme happened in November and was captured on surveillance video.
Police were alerted on Nov. 29 by the owner of the Chick-fil-A franchise, who directed detectives to CCTV footage showing a man using a cash register to order $80,105 worth of mac and cheese, according to court records.
The franchise owner identified the man as Jones and told police he had previously worked at the restaurant before being fired in October. Court records did not indicate why Jones had been let go.
Police say Jones evaded arrest multiple times before he was finally apprehended on April 17 with assistance from the Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Task Force and the Fort Worth Police Department.
Jones has been charged with:
- Property theft
- Money laundering
- Evading arrest
He is being held in the Tarrant County Jail.
