Authorities Investigate Dumped 'Body' Identified As Doll
Man Investigated After Dumped ‘Body’ Turns Out To Be Doll
A bizarre case in Japan led police to launch a criminal investigation after what appeared to be a dumped body in the woods turned out to be something entirely different.
According to reports, a couple walking their dog in a wooded area discovered what looked like a human corpse wrapped in a sleeping bag.
The object was bound around the neck, waist, and ankles, and black hair could be seen sticking out from one end of the bag.

Police immediately responded and began treating the scene as a possible homicide investigation.
Authorities transported the “body” for forensic examination, but when pathologists began unwrapping it, they discovered it was actually a highly realistic silicone sex doll.
Investigators later identified the owner as a 60-year-old unemployed man from Izu in Japan’s Shizuoka prefecture.
According to police, the man had lived with the doll for several years following the death of his wife. However, after deciding to move in with one of his children, he reportedly felt it was time to part ways.

Authorities say the man struggled with how to dispose of the doll.
Investigators said he believed cutting it up and throwing it away would be “too cruel,” so instead he wrapped it in a sleeping bag and abandoned it in a remote wooded area.
After seeing media coverage about the discovery and the police investigation, the man eventually contacted authorities himself.
Police say he now faces fines under Japan’s Waste Management Law for illegal dumping and interfering with police operations.
The incident quickly drew widespread attention online and internationally because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the discovery.
