Dingus Steals From Drive-Thru Window, Makes Costly Mistake
If you ever needed proof that greed can ruin a getaway, this might be it.
A surveillance video making the rounds online shows a man allegedly stealing cash from a restaurant’s register after noticing an open drive-thru window—and a cash drawer with the key still sitting in the lock.
The video, originally reshared by X user @ClownWorld, shows the man peeking through the drive-thru window while employees work inside, apparently unaware of what’s happening just a few feet away.
After spotting the unattended register, the man reaches through the window, turns the key, opens the cash drawer, and grabs a wad of cash before slipping away. One bill even falls to the floor during the grab.
At first, it appears he got away clean.
But then he comes back.
Moments later, the man returns to the same drive-thru window for a second handful of cash. This time, though, two employees notice him just as he pulls his head back outside.
The women rush to the window, yelling at him to return the money. One employee reaches out through the drive-thru window and appears to take the cash back from him before motioning for him to leave. It’s unclear whether all of the stolen money was recovered.
The incident has sparked plenty of debate online.
Some viewers criticized the employees for leaving the register unattended with the key still inside and the drive-thru window open.
One commenter wrote, “Leaving the key in the register right next to an open window is actual madness.”
Another joked, “I blame the dumb employees… At that point let the man come in, make some tacos, take a few beers while you’re at it.”
Others couldn’t resist poking fun at the suspect.
“He saw ‘drive-thru’ and interpreted it as ‘self-checkout,'”, one commenter quipped.
Whether you blame the thief or the restaurant’s security practices, one thing is hard to argue with: if he had simply walked away after the first grab, he might never have been noticed. Going back for seconds turned an easy escape into an embarrassing confrontation caught on camera.
