Start the new school year prepared at the Mayor’s Back 2 School & Health Fair Presented by Shell!
The annual event returns from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The fair is designed to help Houston-area elementary school students and their families receive the supplies, health services and resources they need before heading back to the classroom.
Organizers plan to distribute 20,000 backpacks filled with school supplies. Families can also receive on-site health services, including dental screenings and sealants, vision screenings, mental health screenings and routine immunizations.
The event will also connect families with health and social services available through community organizations throughout the Houston area.
Participating students must be registered for the event.
