4. Free Sandcastle Building Lessons

Time: 11AM, 1PM and 3PM

About: “Visitors to East Beach can participate in “Sandcastle Days” to receive free sandcastle-building lessons from a professional sandcastle builder. The lessons will take place at 11AM, 1PM, and 3PM. Lessons are by the water’s edge, straight down from the East Beach Pavilion.”

5. Aloha Texas! Luau Dinner Show

9. Bucket Brigade Interpretive Beach Tours

Date: Saturday and Sunday

Location: 1923 Apffel Rd, Galveston, TX 77550

Time: 9AM to 12PM

“Join the Bucket Brigade for a hands-on beach tour that dives into what makes Galveston’s shoreline so unique—from curious creatures in the Sargassum to the story behind our turbid water. Tours are fun, interactive, and open to all ages.”

10. The Bridal Extravaganza Show

Location: George R. Brown Convention Center

19. The Space Between Looking and Loving: Francesca Fuchs and the de Menil House

Location: The Menil Collection

Time: 11AM to 7PM

“The Space Between Looking and Loving: Francesca Fuchs and the de Menil House” is the artist’s response to an unanswered letter from John de Menil and unexpected familial connection. Featuring new work by Fuchs and selections from the museum’s collection and archives, the exhibition explores the affective power and relational histories of objects in domestic settings, especially those of the de Menil house in Houston, Texas.

20. Chicago Cubs vs. Houston Astros

Date: All Weekend

Location: Daikin Park

Time: 7:10 PM Friday, 6:15 PM Saturday and 1:10 PM Sunday

About: The Chicago Cubs (47-33) come to town to face off against the hometown Houston Astros (47-33) for a cross-league matchup, making for Kyle Tucker’s first return to Houston since being traded to Chicago over the offseason. As a kid from the Chicagoland area, forgive me, but I’ll be rooting for my Cubs come Saturday at Daikin. If you see a man in an Anthony Rizzo jersey, say “hi!”
