Troopers with the Indiana State Police responded just before 8 a.m. to a call of an unresponsive infant at a Mount Vernon residence, but the child died a short while later at an area hospital, WFIE reported.

The Posey County coroner identified the child as Naiarii Kaczmarek and ruled the child’s manner of death a homicide after the autopsy revealed that she died from a subdural hemorrhage due to multiple skull fractures, WXIN-TV reported.

The infant’s father, 26-year-old Devin Morrison, was arrested Thursday and is being held without bond in the Posey County Jail, WFIE reported.
