Police said the shooting happened around 7:50 p.m. PST, The Los Angeles Times reported.

The victim was treated at the scene but was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the newspaper.

TMZ was first to report that the victim was Slim 400.

NBC News confirmed TMZ’s reporting with Inglewood Police Captain Mark Fried, who said Slim 400′s real name was Vincent Cochran.

Police do not have a suspect in custody, but are interviewing family members and looking for witnesses, NBC News reported.

TMZ reported that it appears the rapper was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

This was not the first time Slim 400 had been shot. He was shot multiple times in 2019 and survived, The Los Angeles Times reported.

He was born in Germany to parents who were in the military and moved to Compton, where he was discovered, TMZ reported.

Slim 400′s first single “Turn Up” was released in 2013 and his latest album, “Ice Wata Army,” was released in August.

He had paid tribute last month to Young Dolph, who was killed in Memphis, and with whom he collaborated on the single “Shake Back” in 2019, the Times reported.
