A North Carolina man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he broke into a Little Caesars after closing time — then made and sold pizzas to customers and kept the money.

According to the Kinston Police Department, the incident happened Sunday, the day after a major snowstorm hit the state. Police say the suspect, 41-year-old Jonathon Hackett, is a former employee and unlawfully entered the business on two separate occasions.

In the first incident, police say Hackett entered the store, prepared pizzas, sold them, and kept the proceeds for himself.

Police say the second incident happened when Hackett attempted to break into the shop again — but this time the business was occupied by employees. Employees tried to stop him from entering, which led to a physical altercation. Hackett was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment, police said, and he was arrested after being released.

Hackett has been charged with:

  • Felony breaking and/or entering
  • Felony obtaining property by false pretenses
  • Felony larceny after breaking and entering
  • Misdemeanor breaking and entering
  • Violating city curfew

Investigators did not report how many pizzas were made or sold.

Kinston is about an 80-mile drive southeast of downtown Raleigh, and the National Weather Service reported the community received as much as 14 inches of snow on Saturday.
