A Florida woman, yes a dingus, is facing charges after deputies say she was driving 123 miles per hour and told them she thought that kind of speed was acceptable because of the car she was driving.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Siria Lopez, 25, was pulled over in Bonita Springs on April 8 after being clocked at 123 mph.

Body camera footage shows a deputy ordering Lopez to turn the car off and step out. Lopez told deputies the vehicle belonged to the male passenger.

When asked why she was driving that fast, Lopez gave an answer that is now getting attention online.

“Honestly, it’s just cause he has a Supra, and then I thought it was alright to go fast and everything,” she told the deputy.

Deputies say Lopez later blew a .23, which is nearly three times the legal limit.

She was arrested under Florida’s new super speeder law, which took effect on July 1, 2025.

Under the law, anyone caught driving 100 mph or more or 50 mph over the speed limit in a reckless manner can face a $500 fine, up to 30 days in jail, or both.

For a second or later offense, penalties increase to up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both. Drivers convicted again within five years can also have their license revoked for at least six months.

The law also requires any driver caught going 50 mph or more over the speed limit to appear in court instead of simply paying a fine.

According to state data, 26 motorists were apprehended in the first month the new law was in effect.

Lopez bonded out of jail a few hours after being booked.
