Alleged Dingus Reports His Car Stolen During Break-In Across Street
A Maryland man is facing burglary charges after police say he broke into a Verizon store—only to discover that someone had stolen his own vehicle while he was allegedly committing the crime.
According to the Howard County Police Department, officers were first dispatched Thursday morning to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle along Baltimore National Pike.
Just minutes later, another call came in reporting a burglary at a Verizon store located directly across the street.
Investigators quickly began connecting the two incidents.
Police say they noticed blood on the broken window of the Verizon store. They also observed blood on the glasses, hand, and shirt of the man who had just reported his vehicle stolen.
When questioned, the man repeatedly denied being anywhere near the Verizon store.
However, investigators say surveillance footage showed him allegedly breaking into the business.
One officer summed up the situation while placing the suspect into a patrol car, saying, “That’s some karma right there, dude.”
Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Jalen Godard.
He has been charged with:
- Burglary
- Theft
- Destruction of property
As for the person who allegedly stole Godard’s vehicle while he was breaking into the Verizon store, police say that investigation is still ongoing.
Sometimes karma doesn’t wait very long.
