Tiny kitten rescued from drainage inlet by Texas animal control officers
SAN ANTONIO – Two animal control officers in Texas helped save a tiny kitten that was trapped inside a drainage inlet on Tuesday.
The officers, with San Antonio Animal Care Services, responded to a call about the kitten crying for help, KABB reported. The officers could hear the cat meowing from deep inside the drain, the television station reported.
The officers were able to remove the manhole cover by using a dog leash to loop through the hole, the agency wrote in a Facebook post.
The drain was 6 feet deep, but the officers were able to climb into it to rescue the feline, KSAT reported.
The black and white kitten was found surrounded by piles of trash, the television station reported.
The kitten was retrieved from the drain and taken to the animal shelter, KABB reported. The kitten, who was nicknamed “Sylvester” by San Antonio Animal Care Services staff members, was in overall good health, the television station reported.
